
Viral Kumbh Mela girl seeks police help in Kerala to stay with boyfriend
Monalisa Bhonsle, the young woman who gained nationwide attention during the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela, approached the Thampanoor police station on Wednesday seeking protection to stay with her boyfriend and proceed with marriage plans.
She is an Indore native, and alleged that her father was trying to forcibly take her back to her hometown. She was in Kerala as part of a film shoot, police said.The 21-year-old rose to fame after a video of her selling rudraksh garlands at the Kumbh Mela went viral online. Known for her captivating smile and expressive eyes, she has since become a recognizable social media figure.
According to police, Monalisa Bhonsle and her boyfriend, a native of Uttar Pradesh, were accompanied by the film crew when they visited the police station. They claimed her father was attempting to take her away against her will. The couple had recently arrived in Poovar for shooting a film.
“She insisted that she would not go with her father and made it clear that she intends to marry her boyfriend. Being a major, she can make decisions about her own life,” a police officer said.
After filing the complaint, Bhonsle left with her boyfriend and the film crew. The couple informed authorities that they plan to get married soon in Kerala. Her father reportedly returned to his hometown following the incident.
