Political tensions in Andhra Pradesh have surged again, raising questions about law and order . Recent arrests of opposition YSR Congress leaders and subsequent violent incidents have deepened concerns about public safety .

The arrest of former minister Ambati Rambabu in Guntur district triggered unrest, while an attack on former minister Jogi Ramesh ’s residence in Ibrahimpatnam, Krishna district , has further heightened the state’s political volatility.

Police took Ambati Rambabu into custody over allegations of making derogatory remarks against the Chief Minister . Following his arrest, disturbances erupted in Guntur city , with reports of some party workers attacking homes and vehicles of opposition leaders. Critics say the police failed to act promptly to prevent the unrest.

Meanwhile, the attack on Jogi Ramesh’s house on Sunday sent shockwaves through the state’s political scene . Responding to these incidents, YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of encouraging violence . “Believing that fear can be created by attacking opposition homes is an illusion . Such violence ultimately harms your own government ,” he said. He added that lawlessness cannot suppress democracy and warned that the state risks sliding toward a chaotic situation .

Political analysts suggest that the timing of these events may be aimed at diverting attention from the ongoing Tirumala laddu controversy , a sensitive religious issue . Observers note that the arrests and attacks may have shifted the media spotlight away from the laddu debate. They warn that using violence for short-term political gain risks undermining democracy. If such tactics continue, the ultimate loss will be to the state’s democratic institutions.
