In a major setback for the Tamil film industry, superstar Vijay’s highly anticipated film ‘Jana Nayagan’ has been leaked online in high definition before its theatrical release, which was delayed earlier due to Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) issues , triggering swift legal and cyber action from the makers.

The leak surfaced early Friday morning, with key scenes including the actor’s introduction sequence and title card circulating widely across platforms such as X, WhatsApp, and Telegram. The footage is suspected to have been accessed during a private screening or post production session , though officials have not confirmed the source.

Production house KVN Productions , through legal counsel Vijayan Subramanian, confirmed that unauthorised portions of the film were illegally accessed and circulated online. The counsel said the situation escalated quickly from a few clips to what appeared to be a full film leak . He warned that downloading, storing, or sharing the content amounts to a serious criminal offence and copyright violation , and legal proceedings have already been initiated against identified individuals.

Actor Sivakarthikeyan strongly condemned piracy, urging audiences to avoid leaked content and wait for the theatrical release. He said films are created with the hard work of hundreds of people , calling for strict action against those responsible.

Trade analyst G Dhananjheyan also called for urgent cyber intervention , urging authorities to block accounts and remove links immediately. The leak has intensified concerns as the film had already faced delays due to CBFC certification challenges , including objections related to its alleged portrayal of defence forces.

Originally slated for January 10, the film was pushed after regulatory hurdles, with the makers later withdrawing their court petition and opting for a revising committee process.

Directed by H. Vinoth, the film stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and Prakash Raj. Touted as Vijay’s final film before his political entry , the project carries significant commercial and emotional expectations .

Industry insiders fear the leak could lead to major financial losses , even as authorities intensify efforts to curb piracy and remove illegal links from circulation.
