Vijayawada Road Rage Turns Violent, Two Youths Arrested After SUV Clash
A shocking case of road rage created panic in Vijayawada after two youngsters allegedly rammed their luxury SUVs into each other in the middle of a busy road over an old personal rivalry. The dramatic incident, which resembled scenes from an action film, was captured on mobile phones by locals and quickly went viral on social media.
According to police, the incident took place on Thursday night near High Tension Road in Guru Nanak Colony under the limits of the Patamata police station in NTR district.
The accused were identified as Lingamaneni Rohit (19) and Bolla Om (21) , who were reportedly close friends in the past. However, personal differences and misunderstandings had strained their relationship in recent months.
Police said tensions escalated after Rohit allegedly made negative remarks about Om while speaking to a young woman from Hyderabad. The issue reportedly deepened the rift between the two, who had not been on speaking terms for nearly a month.
In an attempt to settle the dispute, the duo agreed to meet on Thursday night. However, the discussion soon turned heated, leading to a public confrontation. Enraged by the argument, both youths allegedly got into their black SUVs and began deliberately crashing into each other’s vehicles on the road, creating chaos and alarming commuters and bystanders.
The vehicles suffered extensive damage in the collision spree. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
Videos recorded by locals soon spread widely across social media platforms, drawing sharp public reaction. Acting suo motu, the Patamata police launched an investigation and arrested both accused.
The duo was later produced before a local court, which remanded them to judicial custody. They are currently lodged in the Vijayawada jail.
Police said serious charges have been filed against the accused, including a case under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (attempt to murder) , along with other sections related to reckless driving and endangering public safety.
