The Vijayawada Railway Division under South Central Railway has achieved a new milestone by generating close to ₹10 crore revenue from ticket checking operations within just 22 days of April , marking the highest-ever monthly collection in its history.

According to railway officials, the division reached this remarkable figure well before the end of the month, with nearly a week still remaining. The achievement reflects the impact of intensified enforcement drives aimed at curbing ticketless and irregular travel across the network.

The previous highest monthly collection stood at ₹8.5 crore in October 2025 , which has now been surpassed by a significant margin. Officials noted that no other division under South Central Railway has recorded such a high monthly income from ticket checking activities.

For the financial year 2025–26 , the Vijayawada Division has already collected over ₹76 crore through ticket checking enforcement , highlighting sustained monitoring and strict action against violations.

Strong Enforcement Drives Yield Results

Railway authorities have been conducting special drives and surprise inspections at major stations and on busy routes. Strict action has been taken against cases of ticketless travel, unauthorized occupation of reserved coaches using general tickets, and excess luggage carried without proper booking.

Officials said the coordinated efforts of ticket checking staff have played a key role in improving compliance among passengers while also boosting revenue collection.

Vijayawada Strengthens Its Role

As one of the key railway junctions in the country, Vijayawada continues to strengthen its operational significance through disciplined enforcement. Authorities reiterated that the primary objective is to minimize violations and ensure passengers adhere strictly to ticketing rules.

They added that such drives will continue in the coming days and urged passengers to travel only with valid tickets to avoid penalties.
