
Vijayawada Division Sets All-Time Revenue Record at ₹5,907 Crore in FY26
The Vijayawada Division of the South Central Railway has achieved its highest-ever gross revenue of ₹5,907.20 crore in the financial year 2025–26, marking a significant milestone in its operational history.
According to Divisional Railway Manager Mohit Sonakiya, the division also registered record freight loading of 40.631 million tonnes during the year. Freight earnings stood at ₹4,166 crore, maintaining strong performance despite concessional benefits extended to the power sector.
The division witnessed steady growth in the passenger segment, with revenue reaching ₹1,523.90 crore, reflecting a 9.9 per cent increase. A total of 74.1 million passengers were transported during the period. Revenue from ticket checking also touched a record ₹76.3 crore, indicating improved enforcement and compliance.
Operational efficiency saw notable improvement, with the division achieving its best punctuality level of 86.7 per cent. Key infrastructure upgrades were undertaken, including the commissioning of automatic block signalling and progress on third line sections to enhance capacity and streamline train operations.
Passenger amenities were strengthened through station development works, along with the installation of lifts and escalators at key locations. Efforts to improve safety included the elimination of level crossings across the division.
To manage peak travel demand, the division operated over 5,200 special trains during the year. Additionally, connectivity received a boost with the extension of the Vijayawada–Chennai Vande Bharat Express service to Narasapur.
These achievements underscore the division’s continued focus on capacity expansion, service quality, and operational excellence, resulting in a record-breaking financial performance in FY26.
