The Andhra Pradesh government has intensified health surveillance at Vijayawada International Airport amid rising global concerns over the spread of the Ebola virus . Authorities launched special screening procedures on Tuesday to monitor international arrivals and prevent any possible entry of the infection into the state.

A dedicated medical unit , including doctors and paramedical staff , has been deployed at the airport to conduct health checks for all overseas passengers. Officials are maintaining close watch on travelers arriving from Singapore , which currently operates international flights to Vijayawada three times a week.

Meanwhile, airport authorities confirmed that Sharjah –Vijayawada flight services have been temporarily suspended due to escalating tensions involving the United States , Israel, and Iran.

According to the World Health Organization , Ebola is a highly infectious and life-threatening disease that spreads through direct contact with infected blood, bodily fluids, organs, or contaminated objects. The virus is believed to originate from infected wild animals before transmitting between humans.

Health experts say strict monitoring and early detection are crucial in preventing the spread of infectious diseases. In response, the state government has strengthened surveillance measures and intensified screening of international travelers arriving in Andhra Pradesh.
