Actor Vijay Deverakonda has announced that his films will not have theatrical ticket price hikes as long as the decision remains under his control. Speaking during the promotions of his upcoming film 'Ranabaali', the actor indicated that he would make an exception if he collaborated with filmmaker SS Rajamouli, adding an interesting twist to his stand on ticket pricing.

Ticket price hikes have remained a contentious issue in Telugu cinema, with concerns that higher admission costs could discourage audiences from watching films in theatres. Vijay's decision signals his preference for keeping cinema accessible to moviegoers, although his remark about Rajamouli leaves room for a special exception should the two join forces for a project.

The development comes as 'Ranabaali' gears up for its theatrical release. In a related announcement earlier this month, production house Mythri Movie Makers dismissed reports that it had sought a ticket price hike for the film in Andhra Pradesh. The makers clarified that the movie would be screened at standard ticket rates across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, putting speculation about additional charges to rest.

Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, 'Ranabaali' marks his second collaboration with Vijay after 'Taxiwaala'. The period action drama stars Rashmika Mandanna as Jayamma, alongside Vijay in the titular role. The film is scheduled to release worldwide on October 16, 2026.

The makers recently unveiled the film's trailer, offering a glimpse into its large-scale historical setting. The story unfolds against the backdrop of the Madras Famine of 1876–78 and follows a Rayalaseema man who rises against oppression. South African actor Arnold Vosloo plays the antagonist, Sir Theodore Hector, in the film.

Rahul has described 'Ranabaali' as an alternate-history fantasy, explaining that the narrative imagines how events could have unfolded differently. With the trailer building anticipation ahead of the festive release, Vijay's comments on ticket prices have added another talking point to the film's promotional campaign.

As 'Ranabaali' approaches theatres, audiences will be watching to see whether Vijay's stated approach to ticket pricing becomes a lasting policy across his future projects.
