Vijay announces ‘Annapurani Super Six’ and education aid scheme for families

Vijay , chief of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), on Saturday unveiled a series of welfare promises aimed at women if his party forms the government after the upcoming Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election.

Speaking at an International Women’s Day programme organised by the party in Mamallapuram, Vijay announced that TVK would provide a monthly financial assistance of ₹2,500 to women , excluding government employees, until they reach the age of 60. The benefit, he said, would be implemented if the party is voted to power.

Among the other key promises is the distribution of six LPG cylinders free of cost annually to all families under a proposed welfare initiative called the ‘Annapurani Super Six Scheme’ . Vijay said the measure was intended to ease household expenses and support families struggling with rising living costs.

The TVK chief also announced a marriage assistance scheme for young women , under which the government would provide one sovereign of gold along with a silk saree as a wedding gift. According to him, the initiative aims to support families during marriage ceremonies and ensure financial assistance reaches women directly.

In addition, Vijay introduced the ‘Kamarajar Kalvi Uruthi Thittam’ , a programme designed to tackle school dropouts. Under the scheme, mothers or guardians would receive ₹15,000 annually to support their children’s education and encourage continuous schooling.

Addressing the gathering, Vijay emphasised that the welfare measures were designed to strengthen women’s financial security and improve educational outcomes for children . He said the proposed schemes reflected TVK’s commitment to social welfare and inclusive development.

The announcements come as the party begins outlining its policy agenda ahead of the state’s next assembly election, with a strong focus on women and family welfare.
