Vice-President Radhakrishnan to embark on first Tamil Nadu visit after taking office

V ice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan is set to embark on his maiden visit to Tamil Nadu after assuming office, marking a three-day journey from October 28 to 30, 2025, that will take him across Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Madurai, and Ramanathapuram. The visit comes right after his official trip to the Republic of Seychelles, where he represented India at the swearing-in of President Dr. Patrick Herminie.

The Vice-President will land in Coimbatore on October 28, where he will receive a warm public reception. His first engagement will be a felicitation ceremony organised by the Coimbatore Citizen Forum at CODISSIA, followed by a visit to the Mahatma Gandhi statue at the Town Hall to offer floral tributes. He will also visit the Perur Mutt to take part in the centenary celebrations of Shanthalinga Ramasamy Adigalar, an event highlighting the region’s deep spiritual legacy.

Later that evening, he will reach Tiruppur, where he is scheduled to pay respects at the statues of Tiruppur Kumaran and Mahatma Gandhi, honouring two figures who symbolise Tamil Nadu’s role in India’s freedom struggle.

On October 29, Radhakrishnan will participate in a felicitation programme in Tiruppur, recognising his elevation to the country’s second-highest constitutional post. By evening, he will travel to Madurai to offer prayers at the Meenakshi Amman Temple, a visit that blends official duty with personal devotion.

The Tamil Nadu tour will conclude on October 30 in Ramanathapuram, where the Vice-President will attend the Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar Jayanthi at Pasumpon village, an annual commemoration that draws thousands of followers and leaders across political lines.

Radhakrishnan’s itinerary reflects both his roots in Tamil Nadu and his intent to engage with the state’s cultural, religious, and patriotic heritage. It also underlines the Vice-President’s effort to reach out to the people soon after assuming office, symbolising continuity between constitutional responsibility and public connect.
