Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan embarks on first official visit to Karnataka

The Vice-President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, will make his first official visit to Karnataka on November 9, 2025, engaging in a series of events that highlight the state’s spiritual heritage, cultural traditions, and academic excellence.

The day will begin in Shravanabelagola, Hassan, where Shri Radhakrishnan will participate in the commemoration of Acharya Shri 108 Shanti Sagar Maharaj Ji, a revered Jain monk and spiritual leader. The event marks 100 years since Acharya Shanti Sagar’s first visit to Shravanabelagola in 1925. During the programme, the Vice-President will take part in the Installation Ceremony of Acharya's idol and the Naming Ceremony of the Fourth Hill, paying homage to the monk’s enduring spiritual legacy. Shravanabelagola, an important Jain pilgrimage site, reflects centuries of religious tradition and monastic culture, and the commemoration underscores the continued relevance of Jain teachings in contemporary society.

Later, Shri Radhakrishnan will attend the 16th Convocation of JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research in Mysuru, affiliated with Jagadguru Sri Veerasimhasana Mahasamsthana Math, Suttur Srikshetra. Addressing the graduating students, he will celebrate their academic achievements while reinforcing the values of holistic education that combine professional knowledge, research excellence, and ethical guidance. The university is recognised for its contributions to health sciences, engineering, management, and research, and the convocation serves as a bridge between traditional values and modern higher education.

The Vice-President will also visit the old premises of Suttur Math, a prominent monastic centre, and offer prayers at the Shree Chamundeshwari Devi Temple near Mysuru and the Cheluvanarayana Swamy Temple in Melkote, Mandya, highlighting his engagement with Karnataka’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.

Through this itinerary, Shri Radhakrishnan’s visit reflects a confluence of spirituality, education, and cultural preservation, marking a significant engagement with the state’s religious and academic institutions.
