Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan concludes three-day visit to Tamil Nadu

Hon’ble Vice-President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan on Wednesday concluded his three-day official visit to Tamil Nadu, which covered Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Madurai, and Ramanathapuram. This was his first visit to his home state after assuming office, featuring a mix of public programmes, cultural tributes, and interactions with youth and spiritual leaders.

During his stay in Coimbatore , the Vice-President was received with state honours at the airport. He participated in the felicitation programme by the Coimbatore Citizens Forum at the CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex, paid floral tributes at the Mahatma Gandhi statue near Town Hall, and attended the centenary celebrations of spiritual leader Shanthalinga Ramasamy Adigalar at Perur Mutt. Addressing the gathering, he emphasised the need for balanced growth, saying, “Agriculture and industry must progress hand in hand to ensure India’s sustainable development.”

In Tiruppur , his hometown, Shri Radhakrishnan offered floral tributes to freedom fighter Tiruppur Kumaran and Mahatma Gandhi. He also visited his mother to seek her blessings and met local entrepreneurs and students. Speaking at a felicitation event, he praised Tiruppur’s global success in the textile industry, urging the youth to remain determined and innovative in the face of challenges.

In Madurai , he visited the Meenakshi Amman Temple and interacted briefly with devotees and temple authorities, acknowledging Tamil Nadu’s deep spiritual and cultural heritage.

Concluding his tour in Ramanathapuram , the Vice-President attended the Jayanthi celebrations of Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar at Pasumpon village. In his address, he described Thevar as a “nationalist and spiritual icon who rose above caste and regional lines,” and called for the younger generation to draw inspiration from such leaders who united people through service and sacrifice.

Throughout the visit, heavy security arrangements were in place, with around 1,900 police personnel deployed in Coimbatore and strict traffic and drone restrictions enforced.

Officials said the Vice-President’s tour reflected both personal significance and national vision,econnecting with his roots while reinforcing messages of unity, cultural pride, and inclusive development across Tamil Nadu.
