Varun Dhawan’s Film Restored To June 5 Release After Schedule Changes
Actor Varun Dhawan has confirmed that his upcoming romantic entertainer “Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai” will now release in theatres on June 5, 2026 , returning to its originally planned release date after a series of scheduling changes.
The film’s release calendar had undergone multiple revisions in recent weeks, creating considerable buzz among fans. It was first announced for June 5 , then shifted to June 12 following the announcement of Yash’s ‘Toxic’ for a June 4 release. Later, the makers surprised audiences by preponing it to May 22 . However, with ‘Toxic’ moving away from the overlapping window , the film has now been restored to its initial release plan.
Sharing the update on Instagram, Varun posted a vibrant new poster and expressed gratitude to Yash and Maddock Films for helping the team realign the schedule. He wrote: “JUNE 5TH 2026 in theatres. Thankful to @thenameisyash and @maddockfilms for helping us reset the calendar as our film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai will now release on its original date. The first film to be released post IPL.”
The announcement quickly triggered excitement online, with fans flooding social media comments with reactions such as “Damn excited” and “Good decision,” reflecting strong anticipation for the film’s release.
The project holds special significance for Varun as it reunites him with his father, veteran filmmaker David Dhawan , marking another collaboration after Coolie No. 1 (2020). David Dhawan returns to direction after a six-year gap , making the film an important milestone in his career.
Adding emotional weight to the project, David Dhawan recently hinted that this could be his final directorial venture , citing health concerns, and jokingly said he might continue only as “Varun’s father” thereafter.
The romantic comedy is expected to reinforce Varun Dhawan’s strong association with the genre, which has consistently worked well for him. The film will also be one of his key releases following ‘Border 2’ .
