Vande Bharat Train Carrying Mohan Bhagwat Hit by Stones Near Hardoi, UP
A brief security scare unfolded on Thursday afternoon when a Vande Bharat Express travelling toward Delhi was struck by stones near Kauda village in Uttar Pradesh’s Hardoi district. The train was carrying Mohan Bhagwat , chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh , prompting authorities to respond swiftly and review safety conditions along the route.
The incident resulted in a cracked windowpane on one of the coaches, though no injuries were reported and the train continued its journey. Given the presence of a high-profile passenger, security agencies initiated an immediate review and coordination among local law enforcement and railway authorities.
Police on Friday confirmed that two minors aged 12 and 13 have been taken into custody in connection with the incident. Circle Officer (City) Ankit Mishra said the boys told investigators they threw stones at the passing train “in play” while spending time near the tracks. The children are being counselled, and their parents have been called for interaction with police.
An FIR was registered by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) , and joint teams from the RPF, Government Railway Police (GRP), and local police conducted a detailed probe that established the minors’ involvement. Officials said preliminary findings indicate the act was not intentional , but occurred while the children were playing near the railway line.
Authorities stated that further action will be taken in accordance with the law, while also focusing on counselling and awareness to prevent such incidents. Police and railway officials stressed that activities near railway tracks can pose serious safety risks, particularly for high-speed trains.
