Uttarakhand CM Inaugurates Rs 142 Crore development projects during silver jubilee celebrations

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday presided over a programme in Gairsain, the state’s summer capital, marking the Silver Jubilee of Uttarakhand’s formation. During the event held at the Vidhan Sabha premises, the CM paid tribute to the martyrs of the Uttarakhand statehood movement and honoured statehood activists by presenting them with shawls.

As part of the celebrations, CM Dhami inaugurated 27 development projects worth ₹43.63 crore and laid the foundation stones for 33 more projects worth ₹98.62 crore in Gairsain district, totalling ₹142.25 crore. These projects span multiple sectors, including infrastructure, agriculture, and local development, with initiatives such as the adoption and transformation of Sarkot village into a model village.

The Chief Minister visited departmental stalls at the venue and interacted with individuals recognised for their contributions in sports, education, agriculture, and other fields. Demonstrating community engagement, he also prepared dishes at the Agriculture Department’s stall. A ceremonial parade was presented by contingents of ITBP, IRB, Civil Police, Home Guards, Women Constables, Fire Service, and NCC Women’s Wing, accompanied by the 46th Battalion PAC Band, which CM Dhami reviewed.

Highlighting the role of the Central Government, CM Dhami said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s participation in the main Silver Jubilee celebrations had added pride to the state. “During his visit, the Prime Minister announced development projects worth over ₹8,200 crore and set new goals for Uttarakhand’s progress,” he said.

CM Dhami emphasised efforts to establish Uttarakhand as the spiritual capital of the world, including restoration and beautification of ancient temples in Kedarkhand and Manaskhand. He also paid tribute to the late former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee for granting statehood and initiating a special industrial package that laid the foundation for the state’s development.

Uttarakhand’s progress was highlighted with rising growth rates, increased farmers’ income, reduced unemployment by 4.4%, and recognition as the top state in the Sustainable Development Index. The state has also received the Most Film-Friendly State award. Dhami noted that initiatives like the Temple Mala Mission, One District One Fair, and promotion of adventure tourism are further strengthening the economy.

The CM underscored that strict land laws and anti-cheating recruitment measures are helping curb malpractice, enhance governance, and build public trust. Plans were also announced for a DPR to develop Gairsain along smart city lines, and to connect Chaukhutia, Jyotirmath, and Ghanshali under the UDAN regional air connectivity scheme.

With a vision of “Local to Global,” CM Dhami said Uttarakhand is actively pursuing sustainable development while honouring the sacrifices of its martyrs and promoting inclusive growth for its citizens.
