Uttar Pradesh Floods: 21,350 Evacuated As Rain Hits Several Parts Of State

Rain returned to several parts of Uttar Pradesh on Friday as authorities intensified rescue and relief operations in flood-affected districts, with 21,350 people evacuated to safer locations so far.

The Relief Commissioner’s office said 8,000 people were moved on Thursday alone, highlighting the scale of the ongoing response. Of those evacuated, 2,972 people are currently staying in relief camps as officials continue to monitor vulnerable areas.

The India Meteorological Department forecast rain or thundershowers at isolated places across the state, although it issued no specific weather warning for Uttar Pradesh. Jhansi recorded the highest rainfall mentioned in the latest IMD bulletin at 22.7 mm, followed by Banda at 18.2 mm. Hardoi received 15 mm, Kanpur 13.8 mm, Aligarh 7 mm, Etawah 5 mm and Orai 3.4 mm.

The administration has deployed 2,385 boats and motorboats to reach people stranded in flood-hit areas and move them to safer ground. The affected districts stretch across several parts of the state, including Ayodhya, Bahraich, Ballia, Barabanki, Farrukhabad, Ghazipur, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Hardoi, Kanpur Nagar, Lakhimpur Kheri, Prayagraj, Sitapur, Shahjahanpur, Unnao and Varanasi.

Relief operations have also focused on food, healthcare and prevention of water-borne diseases. On Thursday alone, officials distributed 72,620 lunch packets and 9,937 relief kits. Overall, more than 9.31 lakh lunch packets and over 1.49 lakh food packets have been supplied in affected areas.

The health department has formed 1,165 medical teams, while more than 7.22 lakh chlorine tablets and 2.97 lakh ORS packets have been distributed. Around 6,956 quintals of fodder has also been provided for livestock.

So far, the government has reported no loss of life or livestock from the floods. With more rain possible in isolated areas, however, authorities remain focused on evacuation, medical support and keeping essential supplies moving to vulnerable communities.

In Lucknow, the maximum temperature was 32.2 degrees Celsius, while the city received 2 mm of rain during the day.
