Ustaad Bhagat Singh holds steady at box office amid high-profile clash
Ustaad Bhagat Singh , directed by Harish Shankar and headlined by Pawan Kalyan, is maintaining a steady run at the box office despite facing stiff competition from Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge .
The Telugu action drama, which released on March 19 , opened strongly with ₹34.75 crore on its first day. While collections saw a noticeable dip on Day 2, the film showed resilience on Day 3 (Saturday), earning approximately ₹9.15 crore. This brings its total India net collection to ₹52.90 crore, with the worldwide gross reaching ₹71.67 crore in its opening weekend.
Set against a backdrop of corruption and justice, the film follows the journey of a tribal youth named Bhagat Singh, who rises to become a police officer determined to take on systemic wrongdoing. The narrative blends mass action with social themes, a hallmark of director Harish Shankar’s filmmaking style.
Alongside Pawan Kalyan , the film features Sreeleela and Raashii Khanna in prominent roles, adding commercial appeal and strong screen presence. The supporting cast and technical team have also contributed to the film’s mass appeal, particularly in the Telugu-speaking regions.
Despite the box office clash, Ustaad Bhagat Singh has performed consistently in its core markets, recording an average occupancy of around 36 per cent on Day 3. The film has also seen significant traction on ticketing platforms, crossing over one million ticket sales on BookMyShow.
Trade analysts note that while the competition from a major Hindi release has impacted its growth in some markets, the film’s strong fan base and regional pull have helped it sustain momentum over the weekend. The coming weekdays will be crucial in determining its long-term box office trajectory.
