US Congressman Brad Sherman has urged Pakistan to take sustained and verifiable action against terror groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) , linking their networks to the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 civilians were killed. He made the remarks at a Capitol Hill exhibition organised by the Indian Embassy titled the “Human Cost of Terrorism” , held on the first anniversary of the attack.

Sherman said the attackers, identified as The Resistance Front , targeted tourists in Kashmir and allegedly separated victims on religious lines. He reiterated that the group is widely believed to be linked to LeT, which he said continues to operate with “sanctuary” in Pakistan. In later coverage, his remarks were further emphasised as a call for “decisive and sustained action” rather than symbolic steps, urging Pakistan to dismantle infrastructure supporting such outfits.

The event, held at Capitol Hill , was attended by lawmakers from both Democratic and Republican parties, reflecting bipartisan concern over terrorism. Several US legislators stressed that extremist violence is a global threat requiring coordinated international response, intelligence sharing and closer security cooperation between partner countries.

India’s Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra said the exhibition highlights the continuing human cost of terrorism and reinforces the need for unified global action. He noted that such initiatives are meant to document attacks and the organisations behind them, while strengthening international resolve against terrorism.

The digital exhibition featured major attacks including the 1993 and 2008 Mumbai bombings and the Pahalgam incident, alongside references to India’s counter-terror response through Operation Sindoor , carried out in May 2025. That operation targeted multiple terror infrastructure sites across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, including facilities linked to LeT and JeM, followed by a brief escalation between India and Pakistan before a ceasefire understanding was reached.

Other lawmakers, including Ro Khanna and Raja Krishnamoorthi, also highlighted the importance of sustained cooperation, describing terrorism as a shared global challenge that demands collective action rather than isolated responses.
