
UPSC Announces 102 Vacancies in Central Services, Apply by January 1
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released Advertisement No. 14/2025 , inviting online applications for 102 vacancies under direct recruitment by selection. The recruitment includes posts of Examiner of Trade Marks & Geographical Indications and Deputy Director (Examination Reforms) in Central Government departments. Eligible candidates can apply online through the UPSC website from December 13, 2025 , and the last date for submission of applications is January 1, 2026 (6:00 PM) .
Out of the total vacancies, 100 posts are for the position of Examiner of Trade Marks & Geographical Indications under the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks, Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The reservation breakup includes 48 Unreserved, 9 EWS, 20 OBC, 17 SC and 6 ST posts , along with 8 vacancies reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) . The post carries Level-7 pay under the 7th Central Pay Commission and is classified as Group-B Gazetted, Non-Ministerial , with headquarters at New Delhi and all-India service liability .
Candidates applying for the Examiner post must possess a Degree in Law from a recognised university and have at least two years’ experience in handling court cases, legal matters, or issues related to Trade Marks and Geographical Indications. The upper age limit is 30 years for UR/EWS , 33 years for OBC , 35 years for SC/ST , and 40 years for PwBD candidates . A Master’s Degree in Intellectual Property is desirable but not mandatory. Selected candidates will undergo a two-year probation period.
UPSC has also notified two vacancies for the post of Deputy Director (Examination Reforms) in the Commission itself. One post is reserved for OBC and one for SC candidates . The post carries Level-11 pay and falls under Group-A Gazetted, Non-Ministerial category. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in Humanities, Science, Commerce, Engineering/Technology or professional disciplines such as Law, Management, Finance or Accounts, along with five years of post-qualification experience in teaching, research, curriculum development, examination reforms or online examination systems. The upper age limit is 43 years for OBC and 45 years for SC candidates , with a one-year probation period .
Candidates must apply online and will be shortlisted by UPSC. If the number of applications is large, the Commission may conduct a Recruitment Test to screen candidates. The Recruitment Test, if held, will be post-specific and qualifying in nature. There is no fixed or prescribed syllabus, and questions will be based on educational qualifications, experience and job requirements. Final selection will be made through an interview, which carries 100 marks.
Reservation is applicable as per Government of India rules for SC, ST, OBC, EWS and PwBD candidates. Eligible reserved category candidates are also entitled to age relaxation, with up to five years for SC/ST, three years for OBC, and ten years for PwBD candidates, subject to conditions. Reservation benefits will be granted only on production of valid certificates in the prescribed format.
The application fee is ₹25 for male candidates of UR, OBC and EWS categories , while women, SC, ST and PwBD candidates are exempted from paying the fee. Applicants are advised to carefully read the detailed notification and ensure eligibility before applying, as submission of incorrect or incomplete information may lead to rejection of the application.
