UP Youth Held in Hyderabad for Allegedly Trying to Join ISI-Linked Gang
A 22-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh was arrested in Hyderabad for allegedly trying to join an organised crime syndicate linked to Pakistan’s spy agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) , police officials said on Sunday.
The accused, identified as Zayed Khan , had reportedly moved to Hyderabad around two months ago in search of work and was employed at a hotel in the Medchal area. Police said Khan was originally from Uttar Pradesh and had allegedly been in contact with members and associates of a criminal network operating in different parts of the country.
According to investigators, Khan communicated with the group through social media platforms and allegedly expressed a strong desire to become part of the syndicate. Police suspect the network had links with handlers backed by Pakistan’s ISI and was attempting to expand its activities in India through online recruitment and criminal operations.
Officials further alleged that Khan was trying to procure weapons through the group. During the investigation, police recovered two fake pistols and a mobile phone from his possession. The seized phone is being analysed to trace his communication history, online contacts, and possible links to other operatives.
A case has been registered at the Medchal police station under Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) , which deals with acts endangering the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India.
Police said further investigation is underway to determine whether the accused had any direct operational role or was in touch with other members of the alleged network within the country.
