
UP Police ICCC for Maha Kumbh bags SKOCH gold award
The Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) set up by the Uttar Pradesh Police for the Maha Kumbh 2025 has bagged the prestigious SKOCH Gold Award for its technology-driven and citizen-centric management of the mega religious event, the state government said on Monday.
The award, conferred by the SKOCH Group at the 105th SKOCH Summit 2025 in Delhi , recognises excellence in governance, innovation and the use of technology to improve public service delivery. The Gold Award is the highest recognition under the SKOCH Awards framework. Former ADG of Prayagraj Zone Bhanu Bhaskar was honoured by the SKOCH committee, while the award was received on behalf of the ICCC team by then SP Amit Kumar .
The ICCC functioned as a 24x7 nerve centre during the 45-day Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, which witnessed participation of over 66 crore devotees . It played a crucial role in crowd management, traffic regulation, disaster response, public safety and inter-agency coordination, particularly on peak bathing days such as Mauni Amavasya .
Conceptualised under the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath , the ICCC operated round-the-clock with more than 2,750 AI-enabled cameras , four operational command units, over 400 personnel and a 1920 call centre with multiple operators per shift. Advanced systems such as ANPR-based vehicle monitoring, jam-proof wireless communication, variable message displays and an AI-based multilingual chatbot were also deployed.
The centre also ensured robust cybersecurity , successfully neutralising over 60 lakh cyber attacks originating from more than 25 countries, including attempts involving DDoS attacks, ransomware, spoofing and web application intrusions. Preparations for the ICCC began nearly a year in advance and included scenario-based testing and technology-driven simulations.
Officials said the recognition underscores the Uttar Pradesh Police’s technology-led and citizen-focused approach , with the ICCC emerging as a benchmark for managing large-scale public events through integrated command systems.
