Uttar Pradesh Governor and Chancellor of State Universities Anandiben Patel on Monday called for continuous innovation, robust research, and timely reforms to enhance the quality and industry relevance of technical education in the state.

Chairing a review meeting of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) and the Technical Education Department at the Raj Bhavan, Patel assessed progress on key parameters such as National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and National Board of Accreditation (NBA) compliance, National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) performance, affiliation process simplification, and the development of new pharmacy institutes.

She directed officials to promptly resolve issues linked to AKTU’s IT and Electronics Department and strengthen incubation centres to promote start-up culture. Advanced financial incentives should be extended to institutions and students showcasing excellence, she emphasised.

Ensuring timely completion of pending university tasks, transparent fee management, and improved student facilities should be prioritised, Patel said. She also appreciated AKTU for completing admissions on schedule and introducing DigiLocker services to enhance transparency.

In a separate review with the Women Welfare Department, the governor stressed better educational, health and developmental support for girls in government-run homes. She instructed officials to link these homes with universities and ensure timely access to welfare schemes, health check-ups and bank account facilities.
