UP: Eight children among 38 Bangladeshi nationals to be deported
As many as 38 Bangladeshi nationals, including eight children , who were found living illegally in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra district , will be deported to Bangladesh after completing legal formalities, police officials said on Friday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Syed Ali Abbas said the group was earlier apprehended from the Sikandra area of Agra for staying in India without valid documents. None of the individuals possessed passports, visas, or any other authorised papers, he added.
The Bangladeshi nationals were produced before a court, which convicted them for illegal stay and awarded them three years’ imprisonment , the officer said.
Of the total, 23 are men, seven are women, and eight are children . While the adult men and women are currently lodged in jail, the children have been placed in a government-run child shelter home , officials said.
Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar said a police team will leave for West Bengal on January 10 with the group. From there, they will be handed over to the Border Security Force (BSF) for further action.
He said the BSF has fixed January 13 to complete the required formalities and facilitate their deportation to Bangladesh. The entire process is being carried out strictly in accordance with legal procedures , the police commissioner added.
