
UP AIMIM Chief Booked Over Controversial Speech in Meerut
An FIR has been registered against AIMIM Uttar Pradesh president Shaukat Ali after a video of his speech surfaced on social media, allegedly containing provocative remarks .
In the speech, Ali reportedly said, "You don't need to get me 101, just get me 11 and hand it over to me. I promise you that if any Muslim is encountered, then the one who conducted that encounter will also be encountered." He also highlighted the injustice faced by Muslims in India and Uttar Pradesh , calling for support to address their grievances.
Kotwali Circle Officer Antariksh Jain confirmed the case has been filed at Lohiyanagar police station under relevant sections of law. He added that further legal action will follow and appealed to the public to avoid sharing inflammatory content on social media.
The remarks have drawn sharp criticism. Sachin Sirohi , a leader of a local Hindu outfit, said Ali’s statements could disturb communal harmony . Following the FIR, police arrested three AIMIM office-bearers and are actively searching for Ali .
Political analysts noted that Ali’s comments come amid rising sensitivities around communal issues in the region. While Ali claimed his speech was misrepresented online , authorities and local leaders have urged restraint and peaceful conduct to prevent tensions.
