UP: 8 Booked After Shahjahanpur couple jumps from pizza outlet to escape Hindutva Group

Police have booked eight men after a man and a woman jumped from the second floor of a pizza outlet in Shahjahanpur on Saturday, following alleged harassment by members of a Hindutva organisation, officials said on Sunday.

The FIR has been registered against three named individuals Pravesh, Sonu, and Harshit and five unidentified persons in connection with the incident, which took place at a pizza outlet near the Bareilly turn under the Kant police station area.

According to police, the couple was seated at the shop when seven to eight men from the Hindutva outfit allegedly entered and began demanding their identity cards. Superintendent of Police Rajesh Dwivedi said the injured man, Vishal, a resident of Puwayan, alleged in his complaint that the group misbehaved and started filming them, causing panic.

Fearing for their safety, the woman reportedly jumped out of a second-floor window , with Vishal following in an attempt to help her. Both sustained serious injuries and are undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

SP Dwivedi added that police will conduct surprise checks at all pizza outlets in the city. Shops have been instructed to remove cabins, avoid curtains, and install transparent glass panels to prevent similar incidents in the future.

No statements from religious or political leaders have been reported so far regarding the episode. Police investigations are ongoing, and further action will depend on the findings and statements from the complainants.
