Unni Mukundan skips "Lord Marco", gears up for Modi biopic

Unni Mukundan’s Marco set a new benchmark for Malayalam cinema, grossing over ₹100 crore worldwide and becoming the first Mollywood film to score double-digit collections in Hindi. While the film’s extreme violence drew criticism, it still turned into a blockbuster. Following its success, plans for a sequel were announced, but Mukundan later confirmed he would not return to lead the franchise.

Now, the much-anticipated follow-up, titled Lord Marco , is officially in development — without Unni Mukundan in the lead. Adding to the buzz, rumours suggest that Kannada superstar Yash, best known for KGF , may step into the role, though the makers are yet to make an official announcement.

Meanwhile, Unni Mukundan is focusing on a different milestone project: Maa Vande , the biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The film will capture Modi’s journey from humble beginnings to his rise as India’s leader, and Mukundan has called it “a huge responsibility and an honour.”
