‘Unlawful’ Ambedkar Statue Removed in Bulandshahr, UP

A statue of Bhimrao Ambedkar , installed in Qila Mewai under the Khurja Police Station area, was removed on Tuesday after authorities intervened, officials said. The statue had been erected by some locals without government permission , prompting action from the administration.

According to Superintendent of Police (Rural) Tejveer Singh , the police were informed about the statue on Tuesday morning. Acting on the information, the Khurja Circle Officer and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate visited the site with police reinforcements and held discussions with the local residents.

The officials explained that the installation of statues of prominent figures without prior government approval is prohibited . The locals acknowledged this rule and voluntarily removed the statue . “They understood the regulations and removed the statue respectfully on their own ,” Singh added.

The incident concluded peacefully , with no resistance from the residents. Authorities emphasized that such measures are in place to ensure compliance with civic and administrative guidelines , and any future installations must follow the official procedure.

This case underscores the importance of obtaining government permission before erecting public monuments in Uttar Pradesh. Local authorities maintained that lawful procedures were followed throughout , avoiding any conflict or unrest.
