Union Minister Chandrasekhar Reviews Cyber Fraud Prevention Measures With CP Sajjanar
Union Minister of State for Communications Chandrasekhar held a high-level video conference with Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar to discuss stronger institutional measures to curb the growing misuse of telecom infrastructure for cyber frauds.
The meeting focused on developing a coordinated strategy to prevent cybercriminals from exploiting telecom networks and digital systems to target citizens. The development was officially disclosed by CP Sajjanar on Friday.
According to Sajjanar, the discussions primarily revolved around the importance of intelligence-based enforcement , inter-agency coordination and proactive preventive mechanisms to strengthen cyber security and protect the public from online fraud.
The review also examined ways to improve information sharing between telecom authorities and law enforcement agencies to ensure quicker identification and disruption of cybercrime networks. Officials stressed that preventing misuse at the infrastructure level is more effective than acting only after crimes are committed.
The meeting comes in the wake of recent crackdowns on cyber fraud gangs allegedly using telecom infrastructure to carry out organised scams, following which the Union Communications Ministry initiated the review with Hyderabad Police.
During the interaction, Minister Chandrasekhar emphasised that technology systems should function as tools for public protection and development, not as channels for criminal activities. He reiterated the Centre’s commitment to strengthening cyber security across the country and maintaining public trust in digital and telecom ecosystems.
