Union Home Minister Amit Shah will lead a foot march in Hyderabad on November 2 as part of the Telangana BJP's campaign against what it describes as misinformation spread by the Congress over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

The march will begin at 3 pm from the Babu Jagjivan Ram statue near Nizam College and proceed towards Mozamjahi Market Junction. Following the march, Shah will address a public gathering at Mozamjahi Market Junction. Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao announced the programme while speaking to the media on Friday.

The party expects thousands of BJP workers and members of the public to participate in the event, along with professionals, including lawyers, doctors and intellectuals. The campaign aims to counter the Congress's allegations surrounding the electoral roll revision process and explain the BJP's position to the public.

The timing of the march has attracted political attention as it comes a day after the Congress's proposed 'Vote Chori' protest rally at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on November 1. The BJP's Hyderabad programme is being viewed as a political response to the Congress campaign against alleged irregularities in the electoral process.

Rejecting the Congress's criticism of the SIR exercise, Ramchander Rao said even Karnataka Minister Satish Jarkiholi had supported the process in his state. He also defended the role of Booth Level Agents (BLAs) in submitting Form 7 applications concerning the deletion of names from electoral rolls.

He explained that political parties' booth-level representatives were responsible for reporting whether registered voters continued to reside at the addresses mentioned in the electoral rolls. Form 7 provides a mechanism for raising objections to the inclusion or deletion of names in the voters' list, he said.

Meanwhile, Rao criticised the Congress for staging a protest outside the South Central Railway (SCR) zonal office over the alleged non-allocation of special trains for party workers travelling to the Delhi rally. He accused the Congress of attempting to undermine the reputation of central government institutions and urged the party to follow the prescribed procedures for booking special trains.

He further pointed out that the South Central Railway was already operating 1,000 special trains during the ongoing festive season to manage the additional passenger rush.
