Ujjaini Express Suffers Minor Derailment in Rishikesh Yard

Three coaches of the Ujjaini Express derailed near the Khand Gaon area in Rishikesh late Monday night after the train reportedly hit a buffer stop while being moved to a railway yard, officials said.

The incident occurred around 9:40 pm near Yog Nagari railway station when the train was undergoing shunting operations. Railway officials confirmed that there were no passengers onboard at the time, and no casualties or injuries were reported.

According to railway sources, the locomotive collided with the dead-end buffer at the terminus of the shunting line, causing a sudden impact on the coaches. Following the collision, one coach reportedly came off the tracks while another buckled in the middle due to the pressure.

Officials said three coaches sustained damage in the incident. Railway personnel and technical teams reached the spot soon after the derailment and began restoration work.

The Ujjaini Express operates between Lakshmibai Nagar in Indore and Yog Nagari Rishikesh. Authorities are expected to conduct an inquiry to determine the exact cause of the incident.
