U-19 World Cup: Bangladesh opt to field against India, No handshake at toss

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field against India in their ICC Under-19 World Cup match here on Saturday . The toss also saw an unusual moment, as there was no handshake between the two captains , Ayush Mhatre (India) and Md Azizul Hakim Tamim (Bangladesh).

India are playing an unchanged side , showing confidence in their team combination . Ayush Mhatre leads the side, which includes Vaibhav Suryavanshi , Vihaan Malhotra , and wicketkeeper Abhigyan Kundu . The Indian bowling attack features Deepesh Devendran and Khilan Patel , with all-round support from Kanishk Chouhan and Henil Patel .

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, 14, becomes youngest to score fifty in Men’s U-19 World Cup:

India’s 14-year-old prodigy, Vaibhav Suryavanshi , added another milestone to his burgeoning career during the U-19 World Cup 2026 clash against Bangladesh on Saturday . The youngster smashed 72 runs off 67 balls , including 6 fours and 3 sixes , reaching his half-century in just 30 deliveries in his usual explosive style. At 14 years and 296 days , Vaibhav became the youngest player to score 50 or more in a Men’s U-19 World Cup match. The previous record was held by Afghanistan’s Shahidullah Kamal , who scored a fifty against the West Indies at 15 years and 19 days , while Pakistan’s Babar Azam ranks third, having achieved a fifty against the same opposition in 2010 .
