Two Worlds, One Mystery: ‘Drishyam 3’ Hindi and Malayalam Versions Take Different Paths

The makers of the hugely successful “Drishyam” franchise have revealed an exciting new twist for fans eagerly waiting for the third installment. Unlike previous films that closely followed the original story, the upcoming Hindi and Malayalam versions of “Drishyam 3” will unfold in completely different ways, giving audiences two unique cinematic experiences.

Speaking about the ambitious approach, filmmaker Abhishek Pathak said the Malayalam version will lean more towards an emotional family drama, while the Hindi adaptation will embrace the intense drama-thriller style that audiences associate with Vijay Salgaonkar , the iconic character played by Ajay Devgn .

The original Malayalam “Drishyam” , starring Mohanlal, became a phenomenon after its release in 2013 , redefining suspense storytelling in Indian cinema. Directed by Jeethu Joseph , the franchise earned massive popularity across languages, leading to remakes in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and even international adaptations.

While the Malayalam version of “Drishyam 3” is scheduled to release on May 21 , the Hindi film, directed by Abhishek Pathak , is set for an October 2 theatrical release. According to the filmmaker, both scripts were developed independently before the creators exchanged drafts and appreciated each other’s vision.

One of the biggest talking points around the Hindi film has been the addition of Jaideep Ahlawat, who replaces the void left after Akshaye Khanna’s exit from the franchise. Pathak hinted that Jaideep’s role is entirely new and that his face off with Ajay Devgn will become one of the film’s major highlights.

Beyond “Drishyam”, Panorama Studios is also expanding its franchise universe with projects like “Raid 3” and “Shaitaan 2” currently in development. However, the makers insist they are focused on strong storytelling rather than simply cashing in on popular brands.

With two narratives, two cinematic tones and fresh surprises promised in both industries, “Drishyam 3” is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Indian films of the year.
