In a major post poll development in West Bengal politics , BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has announced that he will vacate one of the two assembly constituencies he won within 10 days , leaving the final call to the party leadership.

Adhikari, who registered wins in both Bhabanipur and Nandigram , said he remains committed to both constituencies but will follow the decision of the BJP central leadership on which seat to retain.

“I will vacate one seat within 10 days. The party will decide which one I retain. I will not forget my responsibility towards the people of Bhabanipur and Nandigram,” he said.

His victory in Bhabanipur drew major political attention as he defeated Mamata Banerjee , marking a significant shift in the state’s political landscape and delivering a strong message in West Bengal’s electoral battle.

Speaking in Nandigram, Adhikari urged BJP workers to maintain peace and discipline , asking them not to rush into celebrations. “Do not take out victory rallies now. Maintain peace and discipline. Celebrate after May 9, the day the new government will be formed,” he said.

Referring to earlier incidents of political violence , he said he would not forget the “atrocities” faced by BJP workers and paid tribute to those who lost their lives.

He also expressed confidence in the party’s future in West Bengal , stating that the BJP aims to significantly increase its vote share in upcoming elections. He promised improvements in drinking water supply and healthcare infrastructure in Nandigram.

Adhikari added that the party’s long term goal is to build a strong governance base in the state, reflecting optimism after its recent electoral gains.

The final decision on which constituency he will retain now rests with the BJP leadership and is expected in the coming days.
