Two Uttarakhand Men Arrested With Heroin Worth Rs 3.82 Crore in Mumbai
Mumbai Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) has arrested two alleged drug couriers from Uttarakhand and seized 765 grams of heroin valued at Rs 3.82 crore during a late-night raid in the Versova area of Andheri West, officials said.
The accused, identified as Arman Ayub Malik (32) from Dehradun and Danish Bhura Ali (23) from Haridwar, were allegedly working for a larger interstate narcotics syndicate operating from north India. Police suspect the duo had made several trips to Mumbai in the past to supply drugs across different parts of the city.
According to investigators, the operation was conducted around 3 am on May 10 after the ANC’s Kandivali unit received specific intelligence inputs about drug trafficking activity near Yari Road in Versova . Officers raided a rented apartment allegedly being used as a temporary storage and distribution point for narcotics and recovered the heroin consignment hidden inside the premises.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Navnath Dhavale said the accused allegedly received a monthly payment of Rs 25,000 from the syndicate to transport and distribute heroin in Mumbai. During interrogation, the duo reportedly admitted to making six to seven trips to the city for narcotics supply operations.
Police have registered a case under Sections 8(c), 21(c), and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act . A local court remanded both accused to police custody till May 15 for further questioning.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Shashikant Jagdale and senior Mumbai Police officials. Investigators are now tracing the syndicate’s suppliers, financiers, local handlers and intended recipients in Mumbai and other states. Officials said further arrests are likely as the probe expands into the wider drug trafficking network.
