Two passersby killed as mentally-ill man attacks them with log of wood

Two elderly men were killed on Wednesday morning after a mentally-challenged man attacked them with a wooden log in Arvi town of Maharashtra's Wardha district, police said.

The incident occurred around 10 am on a road in the Gol Bazar residential area. According to officials, the accused, a man in his early 20s who appears to be mentally challenged, began hitting passersby without any provocation using a bed leg. At the time, he was reportedly unclothed.

Local residents, including a traffic policeman, managed to overpower the man, tie him up, and hand him over to the police. He is now in police custody, and an investigation into the incident is underway.
