Two on bike caught on CCTV after pre-dawn attack on Kollam TV channel office

An unidentified duo allegedly targeted a television channel office in Kollam, Kerala , by hurling a suspected improvised explosive device at the premises in the early hours of Sunday, police said.

Preliminary findings indicate that the incident occurred around 3 am , when two individuals arrived on a two-wheeler . CCTV footage from the vicinity reportedly shows one of them throwing a burning bottle-like object at the building before the pair fled.

Police suspect the object could be a petrol bomb , though officials clarified that the exact composition of the substance will be determined only after a detailed forensic analysis .

At the time of the attack, two journalists were inside the office , reportedly asleep, and remained unaware of the incident. The damage was discovered later in the morning by a driver working with the channel , who noticed a charred section of the staircase along with broken glass fragments believed to be from the object used in the attack.

The driver informed the journalists, following which the matter was reported to the police. Authorities are currently recording statements from those present and examining CCTV footage to identify the suspects involved.

Officials said a formal case will be registered after initial procedures are completed. The identity of the television channel has not yet been officially revealed , and further investigation is underway to ascertain the motive behind the attack.

No injuries have been reported so far, but the incident has sparked concerns regarding the security of media offices in the area.
