Two Nellore Government Schools Get ₹21.71 Crore Modern Infrastructure

Two government schools in Nellore city have been transformed with modern infrastructure and upgraded learning facilities, in a move aimed at creating a better educational environment for students. Education Minister Nara Lokesh inaugurated the renovated DSR Government High School in Moolapeta and the RSR Municipal Corporation High School in Stonehousepet. The two schools were developed with a combined ₹21.71 crore in CSR funding.

The DSR Government High School was rebuilt with ₹13.41 crore in CSR support from the Devi Reddy Sharada Charitable Trust. Spread across two floors and around 24,000 square feet, the campus has 24 classrooms, 15 LED screens for digital teaching and 300 benches.

The school has specialised laboratories for computers, robotics, astronomy, physics, chemistry and biology, besides dedicated rooms for art, music and languages. A library and modern toilet facilities have also been provided. Sports infrastructure includes basketball, pickleball, volleyball, kabaddi and kho-kho courts, cricket practice nets, a children’s play area, sensory park and outdoor gym. The campus has been designed to cater to students from play class to Class 10.

Lokesh later inaugurated the renovated RSR Municipal Corporation High School in Stonehousepet. The VPR Foundation contributed ₹8.3 crore through CSR funds for its development. The two-storey school has 43 classrooms equipped with LED screens and upgraded benches to support digital and classroom-based learning.

The institution also houses laboratories for computer science, robotics, astronomy, physics, chemistry and biology, along with dedicated spaces for art, music, dance and languages. A library and modern sanitation facilities have also been added.

The school’s sports facilities include a one-acre playground, football, volleyball and badminton courts and a synthetic court covering around 21,000 square feet. A children’s play area, sensory park and outdoor gym have also been developed. The campus is designed to accommodate students from nursery to Class 10.

After the inaugurations, Lokesh reviewed the schools’ performance with headmasters and education officials. He instructed them to closely monitor student attendance, enrollment and learning outcomes. Referring to the RSR school’s 60.19 per cent Class 10 pass rate recorded last year, he directed officials to take steps to improve academic results this year.

The Minister also stressed that government schools should deliver educational standards comparable with private institutions. MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, Rajya Sabha member Beeda Masthan Rao, Minister P. Narayana and MLAs Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy and Inturi Nageswara Rao were among those who attended the programmes.
