Two mild earthquakes struck parts of Sikkim in the early hours of Friday, with no reports of injuries or damage to property, officials confirmed.

According to the National Centre for Seismology, the first tremor of magnitude 3.6 occurred at 4:26 am, approximately 10.7 kilometres northwest of Gangtok, at a shallow depth of 5 kilometres. A second quake of magnitude 2.7 followed shortly after, located about 11.2 kilometres west of the city at a depth of 10 kilometres.

Authorities stated that both earthquakes were of low intensity and did not cause any disruption to normal life. No casualties or structural damage have been reported from any part of the state.

Sikkim, located in a seismically active Himalayan region, frequently experiences low to moderate intensity earthquakes. Officials continue to monitor the situation, though no aftershocks of concern have been recorded so far.
