Two Killed, Six Injured as Vehicle Returning From Wedding Overturns in Jharkhand
Another day, another road accident claimed lives in Jharkhand as two persons , including a minor , were killed and six others injured after a vehicle carrying wedding guests overturned in West Singhbhum district on Monday, police said.
The accident took place in Udhan village under the Manoharpur Police Station limits when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp turn. The vehicle overturned on the roadside, leaving passengers trapped and injured.
According to police, the victims were residents of Baranga village and were returning home after attending a wedding ceremony in nearby Sameej village in Anandpur block when the mishap occurred.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Manoharpur) Jaydeep Lakra said two occupants died in the accident, while six others sustained injuries. Local residents and police personnel rushed to the spot soon after the incident and launched a rescue operation.
The injured were shifted to a nearby Community Health Centre for treatment. The condition of some of the injured passengers is yet to be officially confirmed.
Preliminary investigation suggests that overspeeding and loss of control at a sharp bend may have caused the accident. Police have initiated further investigation into the incident.
The tragedy once again highlights concerns over road safety, reckless driving, and poor rural road conditions , which continue to contribute to frequent fatal accidents across the state.
