A fatal road accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday in Jangaon district when a TGSRTC Rajadhani bus crashed into a stationary sand-laden lorry on the Hyderabad-Warangal National Highway.

The bus (registration number TG 03Z 0046), travelling from Hyderabad towards Warangal, collided with the lorry that had been parked on the roadside near Nidigonda in Raghunathapalli mandal. The impact was so severe that two passengers died on the spot, while six others sustained serious injuries.

The deceased have been identified as Navjeet Singh of Hanmakonda’s Balasamudram area and Om Prakash from Domalguda, Hyderabad. The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police said preliminary investigations suggest the bus driver may not have noticed the parked lorry in time, as the vehicle was reportedly left on the roadside without adequate warning signals. Officers rushed to the scene, examined the spot, shifted the bodies for post-mortem and registered a case.

The incident has caused grief in the local area. Residents expressed concern over the growing number of night-time accidents caused by vehicles being left on highways without proper reflectors or warning signs.
