Two killed after Dumper loses control, crashes into deep gorge
Two people were killed after a dumper truck plunged into a nearly 100-metre-deep gorge in the early hours of Wednesday, police said.
The accident occurred shortly after midnight when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and fall into the gorge. Upon receiving information, police teams rushed to the spot and launched a rescue and relief operation.
The victims were identified as Suraj Rathod (44) , a resident of Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh, and Gajendra Rangad (36) , a resident of Rauniya village in Tehri. Both sustained critical injuries in the crash and were immediately transported to a nearby hospital.
However, doctors declared them dead on arrival, officials said.
Preliminary findings suggest that the accident may have occurred due to brake failure , though authorities have not ruled out other possibilities. Police said a detailed investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the incident.
Further updates are awaited as officials continue their probe.
