Two Indians Die During Everest Descent After Reaching Summit

Two Indian mountaineers died while descending from Mount Everest after successfully reaching the summit, officials in Nepal confirmed on Friday.

The deceased climbers were identified as Arun Kumar Tiwari and Sandeep Are . According to Rishi Bhandari , secretary general of the Expedition Operators Association of Nepal, Are summited Everest on Wednesday, while Tiwari reached the peak on Thursday at around 5.30 pm.

Bhandari said the expedition guides made extensive efforts to rescue the climbers during the descent but were unable to save them. “The guides worked really hard,” he told PTI.

Officials said Are died on Thursday, while the exact time and circumstances surrounding Tiwari’s death are yet to be confirmed. Further details regarding the cause of death and weather conditions during the descent are awaited.

Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak at 8,849 metres, remains one of the most challenging mountaineering destinations due to its extreme altitude, unpredictable weather and low oxygen levels. Fatalities during descent are not uncommon, as climbers often face exhaustion and harsh conditions after summiting.

Nepal’s spring climbing season, which attracts hundreds of climbers from around the world each year, is currently underway.
