
Two Indians Arrested in Nepal with 280g of Brown Sugar, Police Say
Two Indian nationals were arrested in Nepal on Thursday on charges of drug trafficking, police said.
The accused have been identified as Vijaya Singh (26) and Tejendra Kumar (35) , both residents of Uttar Pradesh. They were detained from Gulariya municipality in Bardiya district during a routine security check.
According to police, the duo was entering Nepal from India on a motorcycle bearing an Indian registration number when they were stopped for inspection. During the search, officers recovered 280 grams of “brown sugar,” a street name commonly used in South Asia for low-grade heroin and other illicit narcotic substances , allegedly concealed inside a box carried by them.
Police said the contraband was hidden in a compartment within the luggage on the vehicle. Further investigation into the case is underway.
