
Tension in Hyderabad After Midnight Clash Over Suspected Cattle Transport
A late-night confrontation in the Gudimalkapur police station limits triggered tension in the city after two groups clashed over suspicions of illegal cattle transportation. The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Saturday and quickly escalated into stone-pelting from both sides .
Police said the situation began when a group of individuals identifying themselves as local “cow protectors” stopped a truck on suspicion that it was carrying cattle illegally. However, a subsequent inspection by police revealed that the vehicle was transporting only a plywood consignment , with no cattle found inside.
The confrontation turned violent after the group that intercepted the truck allegedly assaulted the driver and cleaner . This led to objections from another local group, which intervened, resulting in a heated exchange between both sides. The argument soon escalated into a full-blown clash, with members of both groups resorting to indiscriminate stone-pelting .
As the situation worsened, police teams rushed to the spot and used a mild lathi charge to disperse the gathering and bring the situation under control. During the violence, two police personnel were injured .
Senior police officials confirmed that additional forces were deployed in the area as a precautionary measure. They added that the situation has since been brought under control and is currently peaceful and stable .
A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to determine the sequence of events and identify those responsible for the violence and attacks on the truck crew and police personnel.
