
Two detained for climbing Mosque structure, waving saffron flag in Delhi
Two individuals were detained after they allegedly climbed onto the tin shed of a mosque’s ablution area and waved a saffron flag during a religious procession in southeast Delhi’s Tughlakabad on Wednesday, police said.
The incident occurred around 1:30 pm when a Shobha Yatra was passing through the area. According to police officials, the two men managed to scale the tin shed covering the mosque’s wuzu khana (ablution area) and began waving the flag, triggering concern among local residents.
Police personnel deployed in the vicinity responded swiftly. Beat staff patrolling the area on motorcycles noticed the act and immediately intervened , bringing both individuals down from the structure without delay.
Senior police officers soon reached the spot and initiated discussions with members of the mosque committee and local residents to defuse tensions and prevent any escalation.
“The situation is completely under control and peaceful. Prompt action by the beat staff helped prevent any untoward incident,” a senior police officer said.
The two accused have been detained , and further legal action is being taken, police added.
