Two Delhi schools receive bomb threat emails, search operations underway
Two prominent schools in the national capital were evacuated and put on high alert on Monday after receiving bomb threats via email , as Delhi witnessed a wider security scare with simultaneous threats at the Red Fort and the Delhi Secretariat.
The schools targeted were Army Public School in Dhaula Kuan and Air Force Bal Bharti School on Lodhi Road . Both institutions alerted authorities early in the morning after discovering the threatening emails, following which students and staff were immediately evacuated.
"As a precautionary measure, the premises were evacuated and thorough search operations are being carried out," a senior police officer said. Teams from the Delhi Police, bomb disposal squad , dog squad, and Delhi Fire Services were swiftly deployed to both locations and the surrounding areas were cordoned off.
Security personnel conducted thorough searches of classrooms, offices, and other areas. No suspicious object or device has been found so far, and no injuries have been reported. The situation is currently under control.
Adding to the capital's security concerns, a threatening email warning of bomb attacks on the Delhi Secretariat and the Red Fort was also received Monday, reportedly sent in the name of a Khalistani group . Search operations were immediately initiated at both sites. This comes days after central intelligence agencies warned of a possible LeT-linked terror strike targeting prominent locations in Delhi.
The cyber cell has been engaged to trace the origin of the emails. "We are verifying the source and further investigation is underway," the officer added.
Search operations across all affected sites remain ongoing.
