Two Arrested for Attempting to Spread False Liquor Rumors in Tirumala

Tirupati Police have exposed a deliberate attempt to disrupt peace in Tirumala and tarnish the reputation of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) police. Two individuals, including a local YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) functionary, were arrested for circulating false social media claims that alcohol was being smuggled into the sacred hill town.

Police said the accused YSRCP activist Allapaka Koti and local photographer Mohanakrishna purchased empty liquor bottles from outside markets and placed them near the Kaustubham Guest House. They photographed the bottles and posted them online on January 4, falsely claiming that security lapses at the Alipiri Toll Gate had allowed alcohol into Tirumala. The posts went viral, causing alarm among devotees.

A detailed investigation, including CCTV footage and vehicle tracking, revealed that the bottles had no connection to the Guest House. Authorities confirmed the act was premeditated, aimed at discrediting the TTD and police while creating unrest among the public.

Police also said another YSRCP social media activist, Naveen, involved in the scheme, is currently absconding. Special teams are pursuing him and expect to make an arrest soon.

The Tirupati Police assured that strict measures are in place to protect Tirumala’s sanctity and ensure devotees’ safety. They warned that anyone attempting to spread false information or incite panic will face strict legal action.
