Twisha Sharma Death Case: AIIMS Finds Skin Tissue on Gym Belt Used as Alleged Noose

Twisha Sharma death case has taken a significant turn after an AIIMS Delhi medical board found skin tissue on the gymnastics belt allegedly used as a noose. The findings, submitted to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) , are now being examined as investigators continue to determine whether the 33 year old former model and actor's death was a suicide or involved any other circumstances.

Twisha Sharma was found hanging at her in laws' residence in Bhopal on May 12 . After her family challenged the findings of the first autopsy and alleged lapses in the investigation, the Madhya Pradesh High Court ordered a second postmortem by a five member AIIMS Delhi medical board and transferred the probe to the CBI.

According to officials, the 11 page forensic report , submitted to the CBI in a sealed cover on July 10 , confirmed that skin tissue recovered from the gymnastics belt matched the injury marks found on Twisha Sharma's body. The report also noted that the belt had a metal ring attached to it.

The findings are considered crucial because the first postmortem could not conclusively assess the role of the alleged ligature material, as the gymnastics belt was reportedly not produced before the initial medical team during the first autopsy.

The AIIMS panel conducted the second postmortem on May 24 and also inspected the scene of the incident. Dr Sudhir Gupta , head of the Department of Forensic Medicine at AIIMS Delhi, had earlier said the board spent nearly a month conducting scientific examinations and reviewing available national and international medical literature before finalising its opinion. However, he declined to disclose details, citing the High Court's directions.

Despite the forensic findings, the CBI has not yet concluded whether Twisha Sharma's death was a suicide or whether any other factors were involved. Officials said the agency is analysing the medical report along with other evidence before reaching a final conclusion.

Twisha Sharma, who married lawyer Samarth Singh in December last year, was a former model and actor. Her family has accused her husband and in laws, including retired judge Giribala Singh , of dowry harassment , mental cruelty , and domestic violence , alleging that the abuse ultimately led to her death. The allegations remain under investigation, and no final findings have been announced by the CBI.
