TVS Motor Sales Jump 29% in January 2026 as Two-Wheeler, EV Demand Strengthens
TVS Motor Company reported a strong performance in January 2026, registering a 29% year-on-year increase in total sales, reflecting improving demand across the automobile sector. The company sold 511,766 units during the month, compared to 397,623 units in January last year, indicating a positive start to the year for the two- and three-wheeler manufacturer.
Growth was driven largely by the two-wheeler segment, where sales rose 28% to 494,195 units. Domestic demand remained strong, supported by steady sales of motorcycles and scooters. Motorcycle volumes increased 26%, while scooter sales rose 30%, highlighting resilient urban and semi-urban consumption. The company’s Electric Vehicles segment continued to gain traction, with EV sales rising 50%, underlining the growing shift towards cleaner mobility solutions.
The international business also remained healthy, with exports growing 21% year-on-year. The three-wheeler segment recorded the sharpest rise, growing 77%, aided by increased demand for last-mile connectivity and small commercial transport, which are key enablers for small businesses and fleet operators.
The broader automobile sector showed similar positive trends during the month. Other two-wheeler makers such as Hero MotoCorp , Royal Enfield and Suzuki Motorcycle India reported year-on-year growth, while passenger vehicle manufacturers including Maruti Suzuki also posted strong January sales. Together, these trends point to a broad-based recovery in the auto industry, offering improved prospects for dealers, suppliers and ancillary businesses.
