Temple authorities said the shrine has witnessed a steady inflow of offerings from devotees despite the sharp rise in gold prices in recent years. Reports in regional media indicated that nearly 49 kilograms of gold and over 660 kilograms of silver were added to the temple treasury over the last two financial years.
Located in Tuljapur , the centuries-old temple is regarded as one of Maharashtra’s most important pilgrimage centres and is considered a revered Shakti Peetha. It is also known as the family deity of the Bhosale family , descendants of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
The temple attracts lakhs of devotees annually, particularly during the Navratri festival , when pilgrims from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh visit the shrine in large numbers.
The temple administration had earlier undertaken an extensive exercise to document ornaments and valuables in the treasury after nearly 15 years, during which substantial quantities of gold, silver ornaments and precious stones were identified.
